So how long did it take? Seeing that you did two line passes in the speedpaint, I'm sure it really was a long time.

I didn't track my hours, but I started back in December. So probably like 20 hours? That feels wrong but the timelapse is 13 minutes when its normally like 2.
I think you have a good start on painting here. You already seem to have a grasp of one of the fundamental rules of painting: paint the colors you see, not the colors it's "supposed" to be (for example, you know an apple is red, but in the right lighting it can be orange, purple, or even green or blue). Just fill the gaps in between where you apply colors, and maybe find a way to group more of the colors together to give a better sense of 3D form. Either way, good start!
thank you very much for the kind words and feedback, it means lots to a small artist like me :)
The over-the-top expressions remind me of the original Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. I wish they kept later games in that artstyle.
Superstar Saga is a big childhood inspiration. And yea, while I still like some of the later games, they kinda stopped putting emphasis on super expressive spritework after superstar saga, Which is disappointing.
This would make a really good T-shirt design
